Is keeping your home safe just about locking your doors? Or making sure your house is working well? Or could it be that it is also our responsibility to ensure that our family is physically taken care of and prepared as well as being spiritually prepared? HOME SAFETY:
- Do you have a fire escape plan?
- Have you walked through it recently?
- Do you have a neighborhood meeting place outside your home?
- Have you checked your fire alarms and carbon-monoxide detectors recently?
- Do you have a fire extinguisher? Where is it? Do you know how to use it?
- If you smelled natural gas when you opened the door to your house what would you do? (Leave the house, call 911 and Excel Energy, shut off the gas to your home.)

HOME SECURITY:
- Situational awareness is key.
- Do you know who is around you as you walk to your car?
- Can you hear what is happening as you walk around? One earbud versus two?
- Do you know your neighbors?
- Do overgrown bushes provide hiding places for unwanted individuals?
- Are entryways well lit?
- Does your home appear occupied when you are away? Have you considered using timers for certain lights?
- Are firearms part of your security plan?> Are you properly trained? Are they secured?
